With the rising federal biodiesel mandates in the United States, attempting to lessen the United States’ carbon footprint, consumers can expect and should prepare for a rising cost in the supermarkets. Although admirable at its roots, focusing on an estimated 5.6 billion gallons of renewable fuel from food crops will not only create a supply and demand issue in grocery stores. It will also end up impacting food manufacturers, farmers, and ultimately consumers in a negative and costly manner.

This issue, coupled with the extreme shortage of diesel fuel in the United States will only exacerbate a population already tormented with inflation.
