With record amounts of freight hitting Vancouver shores, many supply chain and transportation channels are operating at max capacity including rail and inland transport.
“For the first six months of the year, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority saw overall cargo volumes hit a record high of 76.4 million metric tonnes (MMT), up 7 per cent from 2020 mid-year, and 5 per cent above the previous record set in 2019, the port said.”
“Sectors that experienced strong growth include grain and containers, both of which hit new records in 2021. Increases in wheat, up 23 per cent, barley, up 151 per cent, and animal feed, up 30 per cent, contributed to the bulk grain record. ” To read the article, click here.
