Shippers are wise to ensure that any freight being held over the long weekend, need to confirm that their loaded freight will be stored in secure yards until delivery.

Here are some facts: Data revealed that from 2016 to 2020, from the Thursday before Memorial Day to the following Wednesday, there were more than 140 reported cases with an average of 29 per year. Last year alone there was an increase of 35% of events. The stolen cargo from each event has an average value of $308,308. Food and beverage are the most common items, including alcoholic beverages, seafood products, and meat products.
